Best Times & Days to Post on Social Media for 2026 According to Research

"Does the algorithm hate me personally?" No. Maybe just your timing isn’t optimal. To find out the best

“Does the algorithm hate me personally?” No. Maybe just your timing isn’t optimal. To find out the best times and days to post on different social media in 2026, you have to consult recent research data.

Yes, for a specific industry, target audience, or market, there might be some deviation, but overall, there is a pattern you can follow, taking into account the algorithm’s speed on a specific platform.

In this article, we dig into different research by trusted and respected sources and uncover the best times to post on various social media for 2026.

Best Times to Post on All Social Media Platforms (Average)

The best time to post on all social media platforms is dual, and refers to:

  • Morning hours, from 7 am to 10 am: when users check feeds for news, updates, and “quick-hit” information during commutes. That’s when they have time to scroll the socials, but there’s one more fact. A university study from 2018 found that working memory capacity peaks in the morning. Because “high-value” content (such as a complex industry report or a “how-to” Instagram carousel) requires more cognitive effort to process, users are more likely to engage with and click it during the first few hours of their day.
  • Evenings, from 7 pm to 10 pm: When people engage with longer-form content and entertainment-based short-form videos, such as Stories or Reels, to wind down. And this is when “passive consumption” happens, making it the perfect time for entertainment, humor, and “behind-the-scenes” content.

But we have to consider how quickly algorithms distribute your posts to the audience, which affects the half-life duration for posts, and the specifics for each platform.

Recent technical reports analyzed the “Half-Life” of posts (i.e., the time it takes for a post to receive 50% of its total engagement). Understanding this helps you “time” your content’s decay:

  • X (Twitter): ~52 minutes. You must post exactly when the audience is active.
  • Facebook: ~86 minutes. You have a small buffer.
  • Reddit: ~2.5 hours. Meaning you have a much wider window.
  • Instagram: ~18 hours. Posting an hour “early” is safer here than on X.
  • LinkedIn: ~23 hours. The algorithm is slower; timing is less about the minute and more about the day.

Our Best Time to Post Experiment on Reddit

Based on the Scott M. Graffius study we cited above, we did our own little experiment: posted around 9 am, checked the peak time on Reddit from the time of posting onward, and found the peak in views 5 hours after posting.

The half-life should have been at 11:30 am, according to the study, but since it’s focused on engagement, we can’t pull that data from Reddit’s native analytics. But we can confirm that most of the comments and likes were within the first 3 hours.

However, what’s interesting is that the peak in views happened 5 hours after posting, meaning that the post was very active after a half-life span.

The reason for this might be that we replied to each comment the moment it was posted, which boosted more engagement and more views.

So, the key to a successful Reddit post is to keep on engaging with your post. “Post and ghost” is something that will quickly bury your content, even before the half-life span.

Best Times & Days to Post on Different Social Media in 2026

Now, the best day and time to post on social media depend on the network and its audience behavior. Time and days that work for LinkedIn might not be the same as those that give you a boost on TikTok, X, or other social media channels.

And though you might get suggestions from your native social media analytics tools about the best time to post, remember that those suggestions are based on when your followers are most active, not the rest of the audience you want to reach.

That’s why you need to go deeper into the data. So, let’s see how it looks for each platform.

Best Times to Post on TikTok

According to a massive study, the best day and time to post on TikTok is Sunday at 8 pm.

That’s when the audience is relaxed and in the mood for a leisurely scroll. But let’s not forget that, depending on your niche and type of content, you might want to experiment with different times as well. For example:

  • Monday at 9 am – for educational content
  • Tuesday at 4 pm – behind the scenes and productivity content
  • Wednesday at 5 pm – authority building and thought leadership
  • Thursday at 1 pm – product demos and how-to content
  • Friday at 2 pm – light, self-driven content
  • Saturday 7 pm – community and interactive content

Best Times to Post on Instagram

The best time for engagement on Instagram is Thursday at 9 am, especially if you’re posting content that requires thinking. It’s morning, and the brain is expected to be eager to take in new information.

And that’s the only morning you want to use for posting on Instagram, because mornings in general have the worst engagement rate on Instagram lately.

For more entertainment content, you might also try the following times and days:

  • Tuesday at 3 pm
  • Wednesday at 12 pm and 6 pm

Interestingly, a 2026 study by Buffer found that Fridays and weekends were not the best days for boosting engagement on Instagram.

Best Times to Post on X (formerly Twitter)

According to a 2025 study for X (formerly Twitter), the best time to tweet is Wednesday at 9 am. The audience is awake and eager to engage.

And since X users are mostly active in the morning hours, you won’t make a mistake if you post on any other day between 7 am and 10 am.

But, alternatives for Wednesday are:

  • Tuesday at 8 am
  • Monday at 8 am
💡Pro Tip: Don’t forget that X’s algorithm is very fast, so you want to stick to the time frame as much as you can.

Best Times to Post on YouTube

The best time to post on YouTube is on weekends from 9 am to 11 am, or on workdays from 2 pm to 4 pm., according to WordStream. But you have to know that it is the trickiest of all social media to spot the right time because of a few things:

  1. Different forms: YouTube gives you the option to upload a short-form video (Shorts) and a long-form video. Depending on that, the best time will be different.
  2. The length of the videos: Don’t forget that YouTube videos are typically longer than 10 minutes (except Shorts).
  3. YouTube algorithm needs several hours to index your video: It’s not like other social media, where you upload, and within a minute your post or short video is flying through feeds. No. This platform needs to review your video before approving it.
  4. The audience’s intention: Since the audience mostly visits this platform for long-form content, their intention is rarely just scrolling, and you have to bear in mind when the specific audience from your niche is active (or has time to watch your video).

Finding the best time for your content is a process where you need to study a bit of your audience’s behavior in your YouTube analytics to see when they are on YouTube and when they are more likely to watch your videos.

Now, this is especially important for Shorts, since they don’t have a long lifespan. If no one watches your Shorts within 48 hours of publishing, it will likely be buried among the billions of Shorts published daily. So, checking your YouTube Studio and its analytics is a must.

Best Times to Post on Reddit

Redditors are early birds, and if you want to catch their attention, the best time is early mornings on workdays, from 7 am to 10 am.

Alternatives for these are weekends from 10 am to 12 pm.

But let’s not forget that a specific niche has a specific time when its audience is most active. For example, movie audiences are most active in the early evening, while gaming audiences are most active in the late evening.

Best Times to Post on Pinterest

Pinterest users are most active in the evenings, especially on Saturday at 8 pm. But each niche has its own prime time, so the best days to post on Pinterest will depend on your specific industry.

  • Weekends from 9 pm to 12 am for home décor and DIYs
  • Monday from 6 am to 8 am for fitness and health
  • Sunday 2 pm for food and recipes
  • Friday 8 pm for fashion and leisure

Best Times to Post on LinkedIn

Though LinkedIn’s algorithm changed a lot over the past few years, its users are still most active during weekdays working hours, from 7 am to 4 pm, with Tuesday at 10 am being the best day and time.

Alternative days for posting on LinkedIn are Wednesdays and Thursdays within the same time frame.

On this platform, you would probably want to avoid late evenings and weekends, since there’s not much engagement during those times.

Best Times to Post on Threads

A Buffer study shows that, when it comes to Threads, the best time for posting is Tuesday at 9 am.

And if you want to post more frequently, you may also consider:

  • Wednesday at 9 am and 12 pm
  • Friday at 10 am

It seems that Threads’ audience is not very active in the afternoon, with especially low engagement on weekends.

Best Times to Post on Bluesky

Since Bluesky and X audiences have the same habits,  it’s not a surprise to see that the best time to post on Bluesky is during weekdays between 8 am and 11 am, but Bluesky has other slots with a high engagement rate as well. For example, evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm.

But what’s most important about Bluesky posting times is having insights into your audience’s activities. When they are active, that’s the best time to post.

For example, some Reddit users found out that the most effective time for them to post is on weekends and late afternoons.

Best Times to Post on Facebook

Facebook is probably the network with the most surprising ideal posting time. It’s Monday around 5 am.

But we mustn’t forget that a recent study by Adobe shows weekends are when the audience is most active and willing to engage, with three time slots: 4 am, 8 pm, and 6 am.
